are other questions you have which are not listed here, please email me.
About us - Do you only have
this property?
Yes. We aren't a company - we're just a hard working couple (Lynne
& Roger)who have invested in a future retirement home! We know
the resort well, having holidayed on the island for more than 20
years. Wayne
Roberts deals with all enquiries and bookings for us. Karen
is our English on the spot contact in the Canaries. She looks after
the property for us and all our guests are given her mobile number.
Karen is multilingual. We do know the owners of the other 7 apartments
in the complex. So, should we not have the dates available at Jollies
that you want, or if you're looking to book more than one apartment,
just ask for Karens email address and she will contact the owners
on your behalf. You may have seen the Jollies name before as until
recently we rented out our house in the Costa Blanca, mainland Spain.
Now it's up for sale. Want to see the
details?

Availability - Is your availability
calendar up to date?
Always! But you still need to email us with your date request
and wait for our confirmation before making a payment - just in
case at the same time someone else is also requesting the same
dates. Dates are only secure when a payment has been received.
(IMPORTANT:
Please ensure you add our address to your address book to ensure
our reply doesn't end up in your junk mail !!).
to open the Prices & Availability page. You can start and
end your holiday on a day of your choosing, but because of flights
the most popular change over day is Monday.

Banks - Are there Bank
machines nearby?
Yes, there are machines (ATM's) everywhere. All the bank machines
give the option of selecting the English language and are just
as easy to use as they are at home. Many bank workers speak
English.
Beach - Could I walk
to the beach from the property?
Yes, the Jollies apartment is on the sea front. The garden
gate leads straight onto the pedestrianised promenade. There's
a busy beach to the right and a quieter beach to the left.
Cleaning - Is cleaning
included in the rental price?
NO. Our price
is for property rental only but we do offer FREE pre-arrival
and departure cleaning to all our clients.

Linen changes and cleaning are an optional
extra for stays of 14 nights or less, but are obligatory

We offer FREE pre-arrival and departure cleaning. The
apartment will be spotless for your arrival. The rental

your stay. For each and every client cleaning is an optional
extra for the first two weeks. If you wish you can arrange
a mid stay full clean & linen change with our house
manager at a cost of 35 euro's. (she would come more frequently
if that's what you wanted). We do provide you with a washing

We offer FREE pre-arrival and departure cleaning. For

for a three week stay you will have two cleans & linen
changes at a total cost of 70 euro's, and so on.}

Please leave it in a reasonable condition. Please note:
There will be a charge against your deposit of £5
if our House Manager's are left to do your washing up.

Car hire - Do we
really NOT need a hire car?
Hiring a car simply isn't necessary. You're in the heart
of a busy holiday resort. If you want to tour the island
then rather than hiring a car for the duration of the
holiday why not hire a car just for the day. There are
plenty of local car hire companies. There's a good bus
service and taxi's are very cheap. The bus terminal and
taxi rank are less than 200 yards from the apartment.
Our house managers offer island tours. Many companies
locally offer excursions - you'll see the offers everywhere.
As in all busy holiday resorts parking charges can apply
- something to consider if hiring a car.

Ceiling fans
- Do you have ceiling fans?
Yes, one in the bedroom and one in the lounge. We have
rarely, if ever, needed to use them. Such is the design
of the building that the inside has never exceeded 22
degrees C even in the height of summer. One day the
temperature on the terrace was soaring but it still
remained 22 degrees inside!
Credit Cards
- Do all the restaurants take credit cards?
Almost all, as do the shops but not the markets, obviously.
Cot - Do you
have a cot?
No, I'm afraid we don't. Though undoubtedly
my house manager would be able to hire one for you.
For an insight into what we provide and what we don't,
take a look at our heading What
We've got and What We Haven't in our Things
To Know page.
Costs - What
other costs are there?
Your payment to us will be the rental price
plus a refundable damage deposit of £50. We
do not make a charge for our little extra's such
as use of the safe or washing machine. Your holiday
costs, therefore will be whatever you pay for flights
+ rental + damage deposit + cleaning [35 euro's
for a midstay clean on a 2 week holiday, then weekly
thereafter] + spending money.

Disabled
- Is your property suitable for a disabled person?
On the whole yes. Being on the ground floor is certainly
a bonus and being disabled myself the Jollies apartment
has been planned with this in mind. My wheelchair
fits through all doorways except the bathroom. We
have a small front doorstep. There are two steps
from the terrace to the pool but you don't have
to go that way, just go out of the front door and
around the side of the building to the pool instead.
Our new wetroom has been put in with the less able
in mind. We have a manual wheelchair to hire at
£35 pw (must be pre-booked). It's self propelling.
One of the set of steps into the pool is ideal for
those of us who can't climb steep steps and comes
complete with a double hand rail.

Flights
- Is it easy to book flights?
Yes. It is very easy to search and book flights
on-line these days. If you need any guidance just
email
me. Flights are NOT included in our price.
Our price is for property rental only. The airport
you need to fly to is Las Palmas.
Dozens of airlines fly to Gran Canaria, Airflights,
Thomsonfly,
Thomas
Cook, Monarch,
XL,
Iberia,
etc etc. Just do an internet search using the
words "flights Gran Canaria" and you'll
soon see dozens of options. Or you could try the
following flight companies:- Travel
Republic (I've had some really
good deals from this site), Travelbag,
Deal
Checker , Freedom
Direct , Kayak
, Kelkoo
, TravelSupermarket
, Last
Minute.com, Excite
, FlightComparison
who work with many airlines. Easyjet,
a no frills airline, fles to Las Palmas between
April &the end of November. Taxes and fuel
charges have increased the price of flights in
the last12 months but if you shop around you really
should never need to pay more than £260
per person return in the busy periods and £200
at other times if you live near a major UK airport.
If you are prepared to risk getting your flights
last minute you can even travel each way for about
£40 !! Another suggestion would be to check
out the cost of buying singles instead of returns.
I saved over £100 on each persons flight
cost doing this with Thomsonfly
and I had exactly the same flight numbers that
I would have had if I'd booked a return!! .Or
register on-line with the flight companies and
receive emails highlighting their sale times and
special offers. The flight time is just over 4
hours from the UK. Las Palmas airport is a 25
minute drive from Jollies. Karen, our House Manager
offers airport pick-ups for 35 euro's each way.

Keys
- Where do you get the keys from?
If , like most of our guests, you choose to
book an airport pick-up by our house manager,
Karen, she will give you the keys. You hand
the keys back to Karen on your return airport
trip. If you make your own way to the apartment
the keys will be posted to you before you leave
home and you have to post them back to me as
soon as you arrive home.
Noise
- Is there any building work in the area?
The resort is well and truly established so
you don't see new hotels or apartments being
built. I suppose at some point, there could
be the odd hotel or complex undergoing a refurb.
As for other disturbances & noise, you'll
find the Jollies apartment is unbelievably close
to everything and yet when you're sitting on
the terrace late at night or laying in bed all
you'll hear are the waves! We think it must
be something to do with the design of the building.
Nightlife
- What's the nightlife like?
As hectic or as laid back as you want it to
be. There are dozens of nightclubs and hundreds
of bars, many quiet, many bustling and many
with evening entertainment. Truly, there is
something for everyone.
Occupancy
- Will you accept 5 people?
No, never ! Jollies is a one bedroom apartment
for an absolute maximum of 4 people - 2
in the bedroom and 2 in the lounge. We will
not accept more than 4 people. It is ideally
suited to 2 people, enabling the lounge
to be used as a lounge and not as a bedroom,
but that choice is totally up to our guests.
However, we do have some restrictions: -
We don't let to teenagers holidaying without
parents. And for bookings taken after July
8th 2008 the maximum occupancy is 4 persons
for couples and 4 persons for families but
2 persons for singles. Unfortunately a few
teenagers and groups of singles have spoiled
it for the majority - hence our restrictions
- which I'm afraid we cannot be flexible
on. Our rental price stays the same whether
there are 2 people or 4.
Pool - Is there a pool?
Yes, just yards from our terrace! It's a
very good size and shared with just 7 other
apartments. Heaven! It's yours to use 365
days a year - excepting any minimal closure
for essential maintenance occasionally.
There are sun loungers and umbrella's. We
provide matresses.
Please Note:
We no longer have a baby paddling pool.
It was removed during 2007.

Resort - What is this resort like?
Wonderful! There's lots of information available
on the internet. Just do a search on Playa
del Ingles. It's a large resort offering
something for everyone. The island is just
60 miles off the west coast of Africa and
is blessed with a fantastic climate. The
southern resorts, i.e. Playa del Ingles,
are always hotter and sunnier than the north
of the island. There is a pedestrianised
promenade - which is where the Jollies apartment
is. Why not read what some of our guests
have said on the "Guestbook" page.
Restaurants
- Are there restaurants within walking distance?
Yes, dozens - literally! Italian, Chinese,
Japanese, Indian, Mediteranean, you name
it, you'll find one! The closest restaurant
is less than a 2 minute walk. A lovely large
restaurant with stunning sea views. You'll
be spoilt for choice and certainly would
be able to eat in a different restaurant
every night. Playa del Ingles has hundreds
of restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets.
Street - Is the property on a busy road?
No. The road going past the building is a one way street without heavy
traffic. At the other side of the building is the pedestrianised promenade.
Smokers - Can we smoke in
the property?
No, just on the terrace. It's in the interest of all our guests and
to keep the apartment fresh and clean. No body smokes more than I
do and I can hardly say it's a hardship to have to sit on the terrace
with a cigarette, gazing at the pool and listening to the waves lapping
the shore just beyond the garden hedge whether I'm sitting in the
sun or under the stars!!
Safe - Do you have a safe?
Yes we do. It is code operated, which you
set yourself. For an insight into what else
we provide take a look at our heading What
We've got and What We Haven't in our
Things
To Know page.
Transport - What is public
transport like in this area?
There is a very good bus service and the terminal is just 200 yards
from the Jollies apartment (as is the taxi rank - they're really cheap
too).
Transfers - How do we get from the airport to Jollies?
Our house manager, Karen, offers airport
pick-ups for 35 euro's each way. If you
're having an airport pick-up Karen will
see you into the property, give you the
keys and ensure you're happy. You must read
the section "Airport Pick-ups"
in our Terms
and Conditions before booking. Alternatively,
there is a busy taxi rank immediately outside
the airport doors. A taxi will cost you
a similar amount, perhaps fractionally more.
(Diesel in the canaries has DOUBLED in the
last six months but Karens airport pick
up price has not yet changed!)
