Overview - Gran Canaria is one of the last European paradise isles. A continent in miniature it offers lush forests, exotic fauna and flora, Sahara like dunes, mountains, volcanic craters, sometimes snow on the highest peaks. Las Palmas is the most dynamic capital city in the Canaries. The island has incredibly beautiful coastlines and spectacular beaches. The resort of Playa Del Ingles is one of Europe's larger resorts. All amenities are easily accessible. If you want a holiday with easy access to everything then this is it! Playa del Ingles offers plenty of choice of nightclubs, restaurants and bars. The famous sand dunes of Masapalomas are just a 5 to 10 minute walk from our sea front apartment. There is a quieter beach 5 minutes in the opposite direction. The seafront is lined by the lovely pedestrian promenade (where our apartment is!), called the Paseo Costa Canaria and planted with lush gardens. The Canaries are Spanish owned islands. Gran Canaria is just 60 miles off the west coast of Africa. The islands enjoys a much better winter climate than the mediterranean, with minimal rainfall and plenty of sunshine and are, therefore, very popular all year round. The flying time from the UK to Gran Canaria is just over 4 hours.
